Question about iPhone updates?

I understand the iPhone is receiving a third software installment update in the summer. My question is...do you think an update could include something as large as adding video recording capabilities? I think this is a huge lacking force of the iPhone. Or would you have to buy a whole new model iPhone for that capability?
