I'm new to economics - will there be a worker shortage in a Depression?

There might well be a shortage of jobs, i.e. unemployment as a result of a recession/depression (output shrinking will almost always lead to a decrease in employment), but there is almost no chance of there being a decrease in workers. That is much more likely to happen during an economic boom than a recession.
